Day 123 - Naptime

Naptime: sometimes an effortless joy, sometimes a painful slog through every calming technique, every sleeping position, every lullaby, and every ounce of patience as the baby gets ever more tired and ever less able to settle down. We had both versions today.

What worked in the end was a pacifier (which we only rarely use):

But about two minutes later, the baby was asleep, the pacifier had fallen out, and the blanket was over his head. In fact, sometimes Augie can't fall asleep unless he has pulled this blanket over his head. Which sounds dangerous, but his Ah Mah made it with a very loose knit (so it has lots of holes and can't cover his nose entirely), and his pediatrician smilingly approved. (We pull it off his face as soon as he's asleep).
