Last weekend we went to New Haven, Connecticut, for a baby shower. It was great to see our friends (whom we haven't seen since before Augie was born!) and share in their celebration. It was also nice to take a break from preparing for the move, although we still have so much to do.
Valarie, the mother-to-be, gave Augie a fun little gift - finger puppets! You'll also notice he's in a new seat - Grandma and Grandpa got us a new stroller that converts into a two-baby conveyance, and we went for dazzling red. Augie loves it!

More goofing around
Just a couple pictures from the last few days. James is taking a lot of time off work so we can prepare for the move bit-by-bit. So far we feel like we're doing a good job of preparing, and we're on track for a busy but successful last week in Princeton. Ask me again next week how things are going...

After napping
When Augie woke from his nap yesterday, he trundled into our bedroom, where I was lying down. I pulled him into bed with me where we took these fun selfies:

I fell asleep while putting him to bed last night, and finally stumbled out to lay down on the couch:

Little baker
I still have pictures from our vacation in Wisconsin to share, but I have to pull them together first - and that always seems to take more time (and energy) than I have. I hope to get them up here before we move, because there's no chance it'll happen after that.
By the way, we leave on August 3rd! We become European in two weeks!
Augie helped me bake muffins today. He also helped turn the couch into a funhouse.

Augie and Linden running around
We held a garage sale today with Linden and his parents. It was actually nice to hang out outside all day with friends, though it was also exhausting. At the end of the day, when Kristin and I were ready to pass out from exhaustion, this is what the boys were up to:

Driving to the airport
We're finally home after our family vacation in Wisconsin (and after a day-long flight delay). Yesterday was not so fun, with a nearly four-hour drive to the airport through backed-up traffic and a screaming baby. Augie was fine on the flight, though it took him some time to settle into sleep. Today we're all exhausted and trying to recover enough to prepare for our yard sale tomorrow.
From the drive to Chicago Midway yesterday afternoon/evening. Believe it or not, taking photos was actually mildly entertaining to him at moments:

Watching the World Cup
Not much to report here, at least as far as Augie's concerned. He's loving school, he's suddenly started resisting bedtime, he's funny as can be.
We're well on our way to getting out of here: we booked our flights this evening, we had a moving company come to give us an estimate, we're getting rid of things left and right.
Playing at the library yesterday:

Augie after waking
I haven't shared any videos lately, have I? Here's one. Augie stumbling around after waking up from his nap. His hair is so fluffy.

Local hike
Yesterday we went for our first hike (well, really, it was just a walk) in a long time. Hiking and walking used to be such a huge part of our lives, but we rarely get out anymore. It's difficult to keep August in a stroller or backpack for very long, and getting him to walk anywhere with us for more than twenty yards is a struggle. And I don't mean twenty yards at once; I mean twenty yards at all. He always turns around and runs back down the trail.

Eating spaghetti
Another gorgeous summer day, another evening at the park. (We had to leave a bit earlier than we'd wanted because Augie invaded another family's picnic and started pushing their 15-month old daughter to get into their cooler.)

Freedom day
Happy American Freedom Day! Oh wait, that's not what it called. Happy 4th of July, especially to all the Brits reading this.
We had a fun, laid-back day; Augie and I spent a few hours playing at Linden's house this morning, then we came home for our naps, then we went back to Linden's (or, really, Malin & Kristin's) for a 4th of July gathering. I think Augie loved spending the day with friends. As we were still at Linden's house fairly late, the dads threw the boys in the bath together - but those aren't pictures I can share here. You'll have to settle for our afternoon couch cuddle session.
Selfie!:
Augie had just been using my belly for a pillow, but James wasn't able to get the shot in time. As you can see, I'm rapidly expanding:
