Day 64 - Morning happiness
Mornings at our home are always nice, but this morning was especially so when Baba came to play with us before getting out of bed.

Day 63 - 9 Weeks
Augie made nine weeks today - he just keeps getting older. Today I want to share some of his recent developmental milestones.
Beginning around seven weeks, Augie found his hands - or, more precisely, his mouth found his hands. By about eight weeks, he could fairly reliably get a hand to his mouth when he wanted to suck on something (we've avoided using a pacifier so far). Apparently, in baby land, putting your hand in your mouth is a big deal.
In the last week or so, he has begun making a clear effort to reach objects. I won't say he's grabbing things, because each reach is met with a varying degree of success. He usually just bats in the general direction of a hanging object, often hitting it, rarely grabbing it. Today I held a small plastic ring in front of him, and he locked eyes on it. Then he reached out and grabbed it! Granted, I was holding it about two inches from his hand to give him a head start, but he got it in his hand and then waved it around a bit.
I can't really say whether all this was on purpose, but I did take a picture.

Day 62 - The day of 3s
August turned two months old yesterday. To thank me for being such a fantastic mother, he went four hours between feedings last night - that may sound like nothing to you, but that's the path to sanity for me. Thanks Augie!
Today he had his 2-month checkup with the pediatrician, and here's where today's title comes from: he weights 13 pounds and 3 ounces, and measures 23 inches. That's 50th percentile for height, 75th (or something) for weight. Just like his parents, he's a densicle. (Dense + popsicle = densicle).
When Dr. Altshuler checked today's weight against his weight at two weeks (8lbs 11oz), her response was "Oh my God!" (That's shock, in case the tone didn't translate). But it's not a surprise for Augie's parents - at his 5-day checkup, he weighed 7lbs 8 oz -- nine days later, at his 2-week checkup, he weighed 8lbs 11oz, a gain of a pound and three ounces. The doctor's response at that time was, verbatim: "I'm not saying it's impossible. But it's highly improbable." I take it all to mean I make some pretty potent milk.
In other proud-mama news, Augie didn't bat an eyelash when he get his first vaccination. Tough guy.

Getting started - 2 months
Here's the intent behind this blog: one post about Augie per day. A post might contain a picture, video, sound recording, anecdote, complaint, story or any other tidbit from the day (or the day before, or sometime somewhere near the day of the post).
In the next few days and weeks there will likely be many posts from Augie's first two months, mixed in with recent ones, catching us up to where and when we are now.
Today's shot was actually taken several days ago, so I'm sorta cheating. And while I may intend to post something every day, the much more likely situation is that I get around to it once, maybe twice a week - so this probably won't be as timely as its title suggests. But I'll try.
