Easy beach afternoons

We spend a lot of time at or near the beach these days. These pics are from last week - I still have some catching up to do.

Belém with baby

Sorry I haven't been posting.  I'll try harder to keep up!

After dropping August at the Swedish school the other day, Leif and I went exploring. We started at a design museum in downtown Lisbon then wandered around a charming area called Belém.

Belém

Today we made an excursion to Belém, an area just outside of Lisbon, which has a beautiful park, cathedral, sea fort, and other cool stuff.

Cool alleys:

Gorgeous cathedral:

Fun playground. When these boys saw Leif crying because he was on the other side of the fence, they ran to him and started talking to him to soothe him. So sweet!

Running around outside the cafe:

Delicious drinks:

Seaside fortress:

James tells the kids that they have to wave at the trains to get them to stop, so August always waves like crazy when they come into the station.

First days in Portual

We arrived late on Saturday night and have spent a few days settling in and getting to know the neighborhood. We're a ten-minute walk from the beach, along which runs a lovely promenade where we've enjoyed walking (and drinking!).

Sick days, tired days

I think this is the longest pause I've ever taken from the blog. Last weekend some sort of stomach bug descended upon us, and we had puking and diarrhea until Wednesday. I'm the only one who didn't get it (yet!), but I've been exhausted from all the sleepless night and caregiving.

Tomorrow we leave for a month in Portugal! Keep checking back for sunny day beach pictures...

Here are some snaps of the last week here.

Little snow boy

August and I went sledding with friends yesterday. He had a great time, but was a Popsicle by the end.

Oh, and we're back in Sweden now!
